Tragedy Strikes: Cop Dies in KL Rempit Op
Kuala Lumpur - A sombre day for the PDRM and the riding community. A young police officer, Amirul Aiman Othman, 24, lost his life early this morning while on duty, participating in an operation targeting *rempit* activities in KL.

According to KL Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief, Zamzuri Isa, the incident happened around 4:30 am on Jalan Kuching, heading towards Selayang from Jalan Tun Razak.
Initial investigations suggest that Amirul lost control of his motorcycle while navigating a bend, crashing into a road barrier before falling down an embankment. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
"A preliminary investigation revealed that he lost control of his motorcycle while navigating a bend and collided with a metal road barrier before tumbling down an embankment," Zamzuri Isa said.
Adding to the tragedy, another officer following behind also lost control, sustaining minor injuries and receiving treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
Zamzuri Isa stated that the officers were on a surveillance mission to prevent illegal street racing activities, a persistent problem in Kuala Lumpur.
Amirul had been with the department since completing his training and was attached to the intelligence/operations division for over a year.
What This Means For RidersThis incident serves as a harsh reminder of the dangers faced by law enforcement in their efforts to keep our roads safe. It also highlights the ongoing struggle with *rempit* culture in Malaysia.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Amirul's family, friends, and colleagues at the PDRM.
