KL JPJ auctions 124 seized vehicles, RM237k raised

KL JPJ Auction: Bikes and Cars Up for Grabs!

Salam bikers! Want a chance to snag a vehicle at a steal? The Kuala Lumpur JPJ (Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan) just held its first public auction of the year, and macam-macam ada – bikes, cars, even a tipper truck! This time around, they managed to raise RM237,000 from 124 seized vehicles.

According to Bernama, the auction saw 85 bidders vying for 108 roadworthy vehicles, 16 that needed some serious TLC (unroadworthy), and six… well, let’s just say they had some “identity issues” (cloned vehicles).

What Were the Hot Items?

KL JPJ director Hamidi Adam mentioned that the highest bid went to a Mitsubishi Canter tipper truck, fetching a cool RM27,000. On the other end of the spectrum, a scrap Modenas motorcycle went for a mere RM200 – perfect for a project bike, perhaps?

“We successfully auctioned off all the listed vehicles, with the highest bid received being RM27,000 for a Mitsubishi Canter tipper truck, while the lowest bid was just RM200 for a scrap Modenas motorcycle,” - Hamidi Adam, KL JPJ Director.

Why Were These Vehicles Seized?

Turns out, these vehicles were confiscated for a range of offences. Common culprits include vehicles without valid road tax and insurance – things we all need to keep an eye on, kan?

JPJ Gives Owners a Chance

Hamidi explained that owners have three months to claim their seized vehicles. If they don't, the JPJ takes the case to court to begin forfeiture proceedings before auctioning them off. These auctions typically happen twice a year, so keep your eyes peeled!

Online Bidding Coming Soon?

Here’s some good news for those who couldn’t make it in person: JPJ is planning to introduce an online bidding system in the future! This will be supervised by JPJ headquarters, making it even easier to participate. Stay tuned for updates!

Each bidder had to buy a RM100 booklet to participate, bringing in a total revenue of RM245,500.

Ingat guys, make sure your road tax and insurance are up to date to avoid your bike ending up in the next JPJ auction!
