Ops Tapis Khas: Perak Police Bust Drug Ring, Seize RM280k Worth of Drugs - And Some Bikes!
IPOH: The Perak police have struck a blow against drug abuse in the state, arresting 546 individuals and seizing drugs and other goods worth over RM280,000 in a recent three-day operation. This Op Tapis Khas, which kicked off on August 11, targeted known drug hotspots across Perak.
Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin stated that the operation netted 536 men and 10 women, ranging from 19 to 65 years old. Among those arrested were 22 foreigners from Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Ukraine, and Cambodia.

Details of the Arrests and Seizures
The breakdown of the arrests included 72 individuals for drug trafficking, 153 for possession, and 317 under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952. Four others were arrested under Section 3(1) of the DDA (Special Preventive Measures) 1985.
"In addition, 16 hardcore addicts were identified and will face action under Section 39C of the DDA 1952, while eight wanted individuals were also apprehended during the operation," said Datuk Noor Hisam.
The seized drugs, valued at an estimated RM253,471.30, included heroin, syabu (methamphetamine), cannabis, ketamine, Erimin 5 pills, ecstasy pills, ketum leaves, and ketum water. Ketum, being a popular local 'pick-me-up,' featured heavily in the seizure.
Bikes Involved!
Here's where it gets interesting for us bikers: The Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department also seized five motorcycles, along with RM30,876 in cash. Were these bikes used for drug distribution? Were they purchased with drug money? The investigation will reveal!
Target Areas and Public Cooperation
The operation focused on known drug activity hotspots, including Felda and Felcra settlements, private estates, PPRT housing, low-cost flats, and even fishing jetties.
Datuk Noor Hisam urged the public to continue providing information on drug-related activities. Your tip-offs can make a real difference in combating this issue! If you see something, say something.
What Does This Mean For Bikers?
While this operation wasn't specifically targeting bikers, it serves as a reminder that drug use and trafficking can have serious consequences. Bikers, like all members of the community, need to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Let's keep our riding community clean and safe!
