VinFast VF7 to debut in Indonesia at 2025 Gaikindo show – C-seg EV SUV with up to 354 PS, 496 km range
VinFast VF7 Heading to Indonesia: Will Malaysia Be Next?
Eh, guys! Heard the news? VinFast, the Vietnamese EV brand, is set to showcase their VF7 electric SUV at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) this year, running from July 4th to August 3rd. This is their first right-hand drive debut for the Indonesian market, but the big question is: bila pulak Malaysia punya?

Remember the VF6? That B-segment SUV already made its Indonesian debut back in May 2025, starting from around RM104k. Now, the VF7 is joining the party. Currently, Indonesian VinFast website lists VF3, VFe34 and VF5 as available models. This VF7 intro is definitely shaking things up in the Indo EV scene.
What's the VF7 All About?
The VF7 is a C-segment SUV, slotting nicely into that sweet spot for many Malaysian riders looking for a family-friendly ride. Let's talk dimensions. It's 4,545 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, and 1,636 mm tall, with a 2,840 mm wheelbase. It's already available in left-hand drive markets like the Philippines, coming with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries.

Power and Range
For the Philippines, there are Eco and Plus variants. The Eco has a 59.6-kWh battery, targeting a 498 km WLTP range, powered by a 204 PS (201 hp) front motor. The Plus gets a bigger 75.3-kWh battery, dual motors, all-wheel drive, and cranks out a total of 354 PS (349 hp) with a range of 496 km. Not bad, kan?
VF7 Specs in Vietnam
In Vietnam, the VF7 lineup has three choices:
- Eco: 59.6-kWh battery, 177 PS (174 hp) motor, 498 km range (NEDC)
- Plus: 75.6-kWh battery, 204 PS (201 hp) motor (range undisclosed)
- Plus AWD: 75.6-kWh battery, dual motors (354 PS / 349 hp), 496 km range (NEDC)

Malaysia When?
So, the million-ringgit question: when are we going to see this EV on Malaysian roads? With Indonesia getting the right-hand drive version, hopefully, VinFast Malaysia is planning something similar. Electric SUVs are getting hotter in Malaysia, and the VF7 could be a serious contender if the price is right. Let's hope they bring it over soon!
