Three detained to assist probe into fireworks stall blaze
Aduhai! Fireworks Stall Blaze Engulfs Yamaha Y15ZR in Nibong Tebal
NIBONG TEBAL: Imagine this scenario: you park your trusty kapcai, maybe a hot Yamaha Y15ZR, and the next thing you know, itβs caught in a fiery mess! That's exactly what went down in Taman Pekaka, Nibong Tebal. An early morning blaze at a fireworks stall didn't just obliterate the stall; it also left a Yamaha Y15ZR a whopping 90% damaged.
Talk about bad luck! For us riders, our bikes are more than just a way to get around; they're a huge part of our passion. Seeing one go up in smoke, especially due to something completely unrelated like a fireworks stall, really hits home.
The Investigation Underway
Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail confirmed that three caretakers of the fireworks stall were detained yesterday and have been remanded for three days to assist with the ongoing probe. The stall owner, who wasn't at the scene during the incident, has also had his statement recorded. Police are currently awaiting the full report from the Fire and Rescue Department to pinpoint the exact cause of the inferno.
The case is being investigated under Section 286 of the Penal Code, which deals with negligent conduct involving explosive substances. So far, five police reports have been lodged in connection with this unfortunate event.
Impact Beyond the Bike
Aside from the unfortunate Y15ZR, the fire also caused damage to three air-conditioning units at a nearby house. Thankfully, no casualties were reported, which is a small silver lining amidst the destruction.
This incident serves as a crucial reminder for all of us, especially with festive seasons where fireworks are common. Always be mindful of where you park your ride. You just never know what might happen!
"We want to assure everyone that our investigations cover all aspects," reiterated Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail.
Stay safe on your journeys, fellow riders, and always keep an eye out for anything suspicious near your prized machines. We hope the owner of that Y15ZR gets back on two wheels ASAP!
